Today’s word of the day1 is insect and at first I thought there is simply nothing to discuss that has to do with bugs on April 15th, 2024 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, but then I remembered the spider that made its way across my window this morning while I was working on an essay that I’ve lost interest in which is too bad and stressful because it’s due in about five days and I did not budget for working on it after today.
I’m ready for the next thing - the next season - and why do I say yes to all these things?
Well, the spider is the color of the foam on an espresso and it walked across the window and I don’t know where she went.
Somewhere warm.
Somewhere to explore.
Somewhere safe.
Somewhere mysterious.
Somewhere that encompasses all of who she is and all that she isn’t and she will spin her web and she will make herself at home in the silk she casts from herself, enchanting even water that drops and sticks - its rays shine from where it is stuck.
The word of the day comes from a delightful book by Emily K. Neuburger, called Journal Sparks: Fire Up Your Creativity with Spontaneous Art, Wild Writing, and Inventive Thinking
