A Kinship
please don't stop the music
The whole world is on fire, everyone hates each other, we’re all doing everything wrong and also there is a boy who loves music. Well, there are lots of boys who love music - girls, too - but this boy loves music with a love that has captured him and won’t let him go. Honestly, he finds it annoying at times. He’d rather scroll and snap and sleep than fiddle with notes and he makes valiant attempts to live in such a way and at times succeeds but other times a faint melody slithers into his thoughts and all is lost except the music that he must find. He never knows when it’ll happen. The soft “da dum” of a text makes a rhythm, for example. Or the splatter of a soldier blown up in Halo brings to mind a Requiem that nags at him until he relents, stops the game, and heads toward the piano to plunk out a lament.
Harmony gets him every time. He doesn’t stand a chance.
He wasn’t planning on writing the thing, but when you’ve been captured there’s nothing else to do but relent.
