Maybe it’s a poem, or a micro essay, but here’s what I came up with after doing a little art work around the word, “gather.”
At the high school football game, the last one of the season; the one you’ll stand on the field with your daughter because this is her last marching band performance. “That’s all done,” she’ll say when it’s all over, her horn at her side.
After dance class, on a Sunday night when one of us has news. “I’m OK,” one of us says, “but….” and we begin, diving into chocolate and stories and bearing, bearing, bearing.
At the pizza place where you’re meeting your parents, who’ve just moved to your town - a new adventure for all of you - “Welcome home,” you say before you sit down and pour the wine.
Lovely!
Love this, Callie, especially the last line❤️
